its a scaling issue. npubs with big follower counts need it to filter their engagements. it's an "influencer" problem.

i'm very much on the side of relays mostly solve for this already so maybe what we actually need is relay trust scores 🤔

relays and clients can apply GrapeRank too, not just individual users. so yes, you're right, we need it on relays too.

we have very minimal WoT on relays now, just based on follows of follows. GrapeRank is baned on, well, anything that the user wants. go ahead and build one based on kind:1 notes with GIFs if you'd like and call it GIFRank.

and then if corn creates a meme rank or gif rank and it seems to work well for him, people could decided to use his ranking system, since they're shareable.

Yeah, that's the only thing I like about it. You can just ignore it and leave it be. That's the nice thing about Nostr. And whoever wants can use it and learn for themselves.

2 very successful WoT like relays i've seen so far are Spatianostra and Primus. Yes we could use more, but growth is always going to come from community building and relays are the way to go for that.
