I have a idea. Do any of you have mental health related questions that you don’t wanna ask your doctor/ don’t feel like are getting good answers and struggle to find reliable sources. I’m a fully licensed psychiatrist in multiple states, working at a major research and teaching hospital, with 10+ years of experience. AMA

Why am I prescribed abilify and epilim? I don’t take them I don’t trust the doctor’s word here in kenya 🇰🇪…

Generally that combination would be prescribed for something like bipolar disorder or schizoaffective disorder (happy to expand on those in other post). Epilim (valproate) is an anti-seizure medicine with very good evidence as a mood stabilizing agent. Aripiprazole is often added, with less evidence, to “boost the mood”. Do you feel that these have helped? And out of curiosity, is there a specific reason you don’t trust your Kenyan docs? Best of luck!

I just feel like i have been misdiagnosed before i have been through other previous prescriptions that i had to switch over and over dues to side effects till i opted to just not take anything. this was the most recent . I have not taken them . the abilify and epilim combination. so that’s how i feel docs are misleading me perhaydue to misinformation

Many people, unfortunately, go through multiple diagnoses before finding the correct one. There are limited options of any measurable/ objective tests. It can be a very frustrating process with a lot of trial and error, unfortunately. Good luck!

Yeah. Unfortunately Africa is a lab. They say it’s the marijuana but they trying to trick me to stop using herbs and be a money making machine for the big pharma and co conspirators… I’ll keep taking the weed thanks for the help . :)

Sounds good! Just a word of caution, if you truly do have a bipolar spectrum disorder (I am not saying that you do or do mot have it), weed can be detrimental. On the other hand, it can help with other mental health problems, go figure. Hope this was helpful!

It was very helpful. Who is to say i am or i am not am i right ? 😀

Obviously the second part of the question only applies if you ever took one/ the other/ both consistently for at least a few weeks
