Israel under Pharaoh? Probably not. Life was pretty harsh for them for 400 years. Even in our own debt slavery, we are distracted from our plight by a relatively easy and comfortable life.

It's probably more comparable to life under Nebuchanezer in Babylon.

Thanks ok I guess I don't focus on being worse or better just that it makes our life today clearly slavery in God's eyes, and we are thus called to embark on a journey out of tyranny- even into the desert if need be. Leave the comfort behind.

I am trying to develop orange pills for the American churches.

Well, that's what the Israelites had to do under Nehemiah. Leave the soft slavery for the wilds of the ruined homeland to rebuild the temple. A sword in one hand and a trowel in the other. It was a hard life, but it was the only way to restore themselves as a people.

In a way, that is our task now. To be salt and light we need to remind the church of what goodness is. Engaging in a system that is built on theft and debt slavery is immoral and the bank of the modern church. It has to break free from its own soft slavery and begin to stand for goodness again, starting with how we trade with one another.
