I feel like this is a phrase said by people without family or roots in a given area… that or the younger generations who just can’t afford to own.

Owning a home, actually having buy in to your community is what we need. Hard to be a dick and litter in a neighborhood where you know and respect your neighbors.

Like many in the comments, I disagree. I wouldn’t call it an investment per se, and in the modern climate it’s unaffordable for most, but the true intent behind home ownership is good. My wife and I still plan to get land and build to have a long term home for our family
