The typically scheduled panikhída service was cancelled this year because of a Russian pre-Lenten festival at the neighbor church today. They often celebrate together on festivals even though they are on differing calendars lol. I love how Orthodoxy grows a communal culture. Everywhere they go, they create this village cohesiveness that I always longed for but could only find in harvest moon games.

Panikhída was yesterday on the new calendar which is also referred to as soul Saturday, memorial service for the departed
Yes, we also had the same one yesterday (Saturday) called Zadušnice, memorial service for the departed (serb Orthodox). But the Easter Fasting should begin soon, unsure about the date.
