What does BlueWallet sunsetting LndHub mean for you?

* If you use BlueWallet for on-chain bitcoin: ✅ nothing

* If you use BlueWallet with other LndHub services (like LightningTipBot or LNbits or Alby): ✅ nothing

* If you use the Lightning account in BlueWallet hosted by them: ⚡️ Move your sats out.

How do you check if you're using their service?

* Open BlueWallet

* Click on one of your Lightning accounts (yellow background)

* Click the three dots on the top right

* See the "connected to" string

* If it starts with "lndhub.io" that's an account you should empty.

How does one empty a wallet that requires a 1% reserve for every transaction?

Trial and error

Multiple transactions.

So do you just sacrifice the last remaining sat? I’ve tried this with WoS and they won’t let me transfer the last sat. I’m not demanding an answer, I was just wondering if you had any ideas.

Or is that last, unmovable sat just the cost of doing business?

that last sat doesn't even exist bro

Bruh

I’ve tried emptying it completely too but I might be making a 4 sat donation to Blue Wallet at the end of April.

I was able to get the wallet to 1 sat. My donation to them is now 1 sat and I’m ok with that.

That’s kinda where I’m at for this sort of thing. “Thanks for the laughs. Here’s a sat for your troubles”

I have 1 sat trapped in a wallet still.

it says "lndhub.herokuapp.com" on mine, so I'm assuming this too will be sunsetted right? have a link to read more?

Yes, looks like that URL points to their same lightning node as well at: 02c3be1b43f90f089fddeff84014dca38fd0f6ab4224dbf6c18a5e36d55d7917cc

If you browse the that URL in a browser, it will show you the lightning node URI on the right side.

What does it mean if it says "https://lndhub.herokuapp.com" ?

That's the same node that's being sunsetted. You'll have to move your funds as well.

I suppose it's also them! Move sats out.

How come we have to be informed of that by you and not by them 😑

Info utile pour savoir quoi et comment faire avec vos sat sur bluewallet 👍

Why should empty ?

#[1]

I have some sats there and also in Alby, stacker news, ZBD... (Less than 200k in total) What's the best way to unify and send later to Phoenix? I want to get the longest channel possible and reduce the fees, as I don't have much sats and are a lot valuable for me...

Other options I'm listening too ( @walletofsatoshi don't provide me an apk and I can't install it, they ignore my messages... )

Thank you 🙏

Note: it may also say "https://lndhub.herokuapp.com/" instead of "lndhub.io" – this is also them afaik. Move out! ⚡️

Thanks for sharing this! I would've had no idea otherwise and I do have one of those accounts.

Oh... seems like I have to zap away the 4k Sats at my BlueWallet. #[1]

Zap them to the community brother ⚡️

You might want to zap them here on Nostr directly! 😉

I'll just suck all sats from everywhere. ⚡️

This is probably more helpful. Geez! Rookie move. Sorry.

🙏

Not sure if because of a bankrun, but I keep getting this :(

Nvm just came through smaller payments 💡

Will Login using LN also stop working?

Exactly: the simplest way is to move the sats from lndhub.io account to LightningTipBot and if you still didn't import it into Bluewallet, you can do it anytime.

So you can still keep using Bluewallet app but not with lndhub.io account.

🤙🏻⚡️

Can I still use BlueWallet with custodial lightning?

Bluewallet is custodial lightning.

Why should you empty it? Isn’t BlueWallet a custodial wallet that works with “watchtowers” so no one can spend your lightning balance? I’m probably wrong.

Yes, that's wrong.

How do BlueWallet’s lightning wallets work then? You can also point me to the documentation where this is explained

Search for LndHub

Have been looking into this. So, as I understand LNDhub is an open-source web application that allows to connect a user with an LND node.

When I create a lightning wallet in BlueWallet, I connect via LNDhub with their instance of the LND, their “lightning node”. That means that I will be using their channels, and in theory they could just mess with my funds.

However, as I understood, the reason they cannot mess with my funds is because when I create the lightning wallet, I also create a unique node macaroon and TLS certificate, apart from the set of private keys from the bitcoin wallet, which ensure that only me can access my funds.

Alternatively, one can have their own lightning node and connect to it via LNDhub, however this requires that you setup your channels, etc. So, I understand this is not for everyone. Also, using your own lightning node could be a case for privacy and security reasons (surveillance, maintaining the node…).

Is there any way I am still wrong? If so, can you describe where I may have misunderstood?

Yes, ok, I think I finally got it. I am wrong in a couple of statements here.

Starting with macaroons, which are login passwords for the node.

BlueWallet keeps a history of your transactions, and allows you to send as many sats as you have according to your transaction history. But they could take your funds at any time, as the sats are in their lightning channels, which is linked to their bitcoin lightning node, and thus to their private keys.

It is a custodial wallet.

bluewallet u can use OWN node or any compatible node

If you use Bluewallet you need to know this..
