It is stunning to me how brain-dead these politicians are. But I suspect the rich bankers that have the politicians (like Biden, Warren, et al) in their back pockets might be behind this.
The government subsidizes every other industry's decarbonizarion (steel, cement, pulp & paper, oil & gas, energy gen, etc), from subsidies to funding (free $)
But when there's a natural subsidy (Bitcoin mining reward), they tax it, pushing mining offshore to higher GHG emitting grids 🤦🏼♀️
