I'm thinking of the times before bitcoin when gold had a lot of good qualities to be hard money and still got rekt, mostly because it wasn't practical for microtransactions and people decided it was a good idea to trade promises of gold instead of actual gold. Ironically, people are holding paper bitcoin today despite the countless records of gold thefts in the past.
