Especially for chocolate and tobacco, two plants which soaks up heavy metals like cadmium etc.
Exactly. In a previous life I had to review cacao results from farms. Cadmium levels spike on batches way more often than people will ever know. Yes they are thrown out by companies that have decency but it’s not difficult to fake these results.
And many imports from China etc have never seen soil labs there. China’s soil from industrial legacy, mining intensity, and rapid agricultural growth with no concern for any sort of regulation has rendered so much of their yield as contaminated. Soil labs are difficult to get and untrustworthy from there.
I’m bullish on companies like great ghee for how easy it is for them to go pull a soil read and how that can become a standard that pulls people into NOSTR/Bitcoin. We have to uphold a standard though.
