a mother, in this case, gave birth to male offspring, her son
if you are the son of a human mother, and your mother's behavior upsets you because she watches the news and you think the news is full of lies
you can ask to have a conversation with her at the kitchen table (where human beings traditionally eat meals)
this is a conversation between mother and son. they are in a relationship as mother and son. they both love and respect each other even tho on some things they disagree because of different perspectives and different lived experiences and different ages. a mom is older than a son.
for this conversation to be actual, both must be vulnerable enough to be open to changing their perspectives. they are equally willing to see where they were shortsighted, impatient, flat out wrong, or were disregarding something the other person treasures deeply as a value.
that's all it takes
if you approach a conversation willing to walk away from it watching the news with your mom from a different perspective of appreciation for her and the news,
will she be far more likely to equally come into an understanding about what you see in the news and what stresses you out about it.
maybe she still watches the news but it is a different channel you find better researched and less sensational.
as in: conversations dont go well if you are the immovable impenetrable object trying to exploit the terrain of the other party
that situation is a situation between enemies. one about domination. and no one should be listening to an enemy.
