Nope. This is exactly how I approached this when we met. Took a second but she understands that I have dealt with a lot of comfort turned toxic, just like she has. Of course I'm not intentionally assholish to her, I am less aggressive about it now, but I will certainly speak my mind just like she does now.
My view is if you can't rely on your partner for honest input, you're not going to be happy. Again, within agreeable terms, of course.
