I was a dumbass and did that for the longest time, somehow thinking a big tax refund was the way to go. One year my wife and I were owed almost $5k but the IRS needed to “review it”. Took over two years to get the money. They gave us like $300 interest for the delay….which we got taxed on

Maybe I worded that wrong, I’m completely agreeing with you. We did zero withholdings, like idiots, and got absolutely fucked
