A trend I just noticed is YouTubers splicing in actual ads into their videos - not just mentioning products but using recorded marketing materials as part of their videos.

Huh, I don’t think I’ve seen that yet
If you use Android apps like Tubular and LibreTube make use of Sponsorskip and allow skipping things like this.
This is not ads inserted by YouTube. Also, I know there are extensions that allow you to skip reported ad time frames but not sure how you’d use them on a tv
I understand that, SponserBlock will still automatically forward by them in most cases. All that's needed is enable it in the app settings. However, I guess that's only useful if you can install APK's.
SponsorBlock extension works pretty well for popular content
I watch those movie/series recap videos, and this sly bastard made up a quote the girl says in the movie about using a vpn and "sTaYiNg SaFe OnLiNe"
It was so out of place my brain immediately went hold up, sure enough he fucking shills Nord VPN 🤮🤮🤮🤡
The ad supported content model cannot die soon enough.
