I totally get it....now. I'll be doing the same. It was a head scratcher until today.
I don't use any paid relays (yet), and constantly zap without replying. If I have nothing of value to add, I keep the signal to noise ratio high by not replying.
If people avoid posting a note because it costs them money, then they're doing communication incorrectly. Emoting/zapping instead of speaking out is worse than using a communication platform that has a character limit.
It's more nuanced then that, I was being brief. But I think this 👇🏾👇🏾 approach addresses your thoughts.
