I think you're right. It's some sort of Chinese mushroom.
It’s a tricky one. First impression was jackfruit or eel.
I stand by the mushroom choice. I ate some last summer and I couldn't remember where. Thanks for reminding me. Shape, color and texture was the same, but it was prepared differently.
