A federation doesn’t dissolve a service of all liability, it just spreads the risk to more people. Anything that sends Cashu mint operators to jail will do the same to Fedimint.

That’s what I’m thinking “federation” is just a blood pact of “if I go to jail, we all go to jail”. How does that help the situation at all? If a coin mixer is money laundering, so is e-cash. E-cash is even more custodial than a mixer is.
