Have a nearly 13-YO daughter. The music she listens to is bad. Girl singer-song-writers whining about their depressing love lives, rappers talking about the usual, lot of sad, drug and booze-themed songs too.

Now I listened to Zeppelin, Floyd, Rolling Stones, etc. when I was that age, and they were degenerates (and Floyd was depressing too.) But it had some balls, some depth.

I don’t know, I can’t really stop her at this point without starting WWIII, but it’s bad programming for a young girl. It’s vapid, derivative shit, and not offset by the quality.

I listened to a lot of terrible trap music at that age. Still do sometimes. I turned out fine. My music taste got better too 😂

Feel like it’s worse for girls of that age, but I hear you. Nothing I can do about it anyway.

I started listening to black sabbath and other metal as a teen. My mother was shocked and seeking professional help for me. 50 years later I can tell you it's a lot less about the music, and more about the people children associate with.

My kids at that age were listening to some rank rap. 20 years later I can tell you the bad associations they had were their teachers more than their friends.

Love Master Of Reality! But I hear you. I think the music and the message might influence who they want to hang with though, who they think is cool.

I would just keep exposing them to different kinds of music, maybe even not your ideal music but maybe something that's similar to what they're listening to with better lyrics. I'm not a parent but just an idea

fiat money. fiat culture. fiat music
