So if people don't trust systemd, they should keep on using windows?
It takes effort to move to linux of any flavor, but worth it. Ubuntu is the primal of linux, but a whole lot better than twitter. Systemd is to windows as primal is to x.
My grandfather distrusted doctors with a vengence and none of my family understood why. I understand now.
...will only cost a shitton, be hard to maintain, and have a lot of bugs...
that's best case. now contemplate the worst case.
coding with ai is a tool. programmers who have no idea what they wrote have been around as long as frameworks. use them both wisely.
Apple ALSO wants you to buy a new computer. A macbook pro from 2011 will not upgrade anymore at all, but you can install linux fairly easily and have a solid computer for years to come, and it will be far less likley to come with the latest hardware level spyware baked in.
The one issue you may have is getting the touch pad to work. Here's the solution ubuntu/debian:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt install xserver-xorg-input-mtrack
reboot and it should be working, and you can adjust the settings as you would normally.
Other distros you may have to compile it yourself from source:
yep. Mainstream medicine is a doctor, matching a symptom to a drug in 10 minutes, writing the prescription and going to the next room. By the next visit a patient will have side effects for matching to more drugs. Bill Rince repeat.
"...the authentication systems created to solve the nsec/npub problem are confusing..."
this may be the biggest issue.
Unless one has an interest in FOSS, Bitcoin, or Free Speech, nostr will have little draw, until the killer app is discovered.
This is what I have been hoping a new distributed technial web of trust will fix. Only I call the EUNPCs 'false prophets'
I was compelled to post with the hope that people would ponder these things, to see if they are so. I think each congregation does the best they can, but the church business leadership drive the bus so to speak, and there comes a time when the congregation has have to flee. Acts17:11, Isaiah42:18, Mark11:15, Matt23:1-5, Matt7:15-16, Matt10:16-23, 2Thesalonians
I am suggesting that there is a (church business) man of lawlessness and rebellion who operates in secret, sending misleading doctrine forth. We should be on the watch, and not be condoning these teachings. -2Thesalonians
The 'church' is a business. The 'congregation' is Christ's Body. There is a difference, and the Word of God makes that very clear, for anyone who seeks it.
looks like Freerse is mobile: android/ios. does Freerse render comments on Articles?
Forgot about highlighter...
1. Markdown Rendering - yes
2. Comment Rendering - yes
3. Find Article by paste event hash in url or search field - yes: highlighter.com/a/ + nevent1...
4. Light or Dark Mode Option - yes
5. Read without Login - yes
6. User can select relays - no? I am not seeing ability to change it, or even discosing what relays it uses
7. Complete client key management onboarding |or| nsec login - yes
This experience by elizableu posting an artical on nostr is unfortunate. This will drive the best content away.
Here is a first draft of what I think is needed by publishers if a client is to support long form articles. Publishers: please add your must have's to this list. Developers: please indicate what your client supports in this list.
Clients should indicate if they support these features for long form content:
1. Markdown Rendering
2. Comment Rendering
3. Find Article by paste event hash in url or search field
4. Light or Dark Mode Option
5. Read without Login
6. User can select relays
7. Complete client key management onboarding |or| nsec login
I'm working on a client matrix specific to long form content... please reply for the purpose of publishing a complete list of client compatibility. This will help writers decide how to publish their content in a way that is encouraging.
These clients indicate they support Long Form Content (what clients are missing from this list?)
