Yeah it is pixel art. And whether you like it or not, CryptoPunks are a staple of on-chain pixel art culture, just like Idiots are now becoming on Bitcoin.
If you’re truly into pixel art, it makes zero sense to dismiss these as “high-time-preference repetitive NFTs.” That’s just lazy framing.
You can dislike the market, the hype, the meta - but to deny the cultural and artistic significance of CryptoPunks or Idiots is to ignore the fact that on-chain pixel art is a distinct art form in itself.
So the question is: are you into pixel art? Or just the kind that fits your worldview?

What drains my energy is the loss of appeal after people took it to shitcoin and bitcoin to scam others using NFTs and fake digital scarcity and fake ownership. Only to make volume on a speculation market which is devoid of appreciation of pixel perfect artists.
Pixel art has been been dragged through mud of scams.

Look realistically, you have a token but the ownership of the content is determined by your relation to it. Just holding a private key doesn't mean you can do anything with it. Enforcement is in real world. Say you want to print a tshirt with an NFT I sold you a license to just view on a marketplace. Yeah, you own a receipt for having made a payment and can transfer it. I still can go sue you for breach.
Clearly there is something missing to having full ownership.
