Dude let’s be real. Once bitcoin goes mainstream, ain’t nobody calling it sats lol. They will either call it bitcoins (plural) or bits. I predict people will denominate it this way: 1 BTC = 100,000,000 bitcoins.

Yeah dude everyone's going to change their mind all at once and update all the apps and all the code to not use sats. Just as soon as it goes mainstream.

And you should boycott any participant who uses sats to make it known that you won't stand for it because it's wrong.

Who is everyone ? You, a couple devs, And blackrock ? Cmon dude LMFAO you don’t get to decide that for everyone buddy, go and take a seat for me. Also, i’m only debating for fun, you’re taking this way too seriously lol corn just replied with a gif because it’s literally not that big of a deal. We will know who is right in the long run.

Me and the three devs in the back get to decide everything for the whole network.

So it’s guys trying to ossify this mofo… i got a bone to pick with ya’ll…lol

Sats are the standard

Bits are a bit gay

100% gay

I get BTC, sats, but now I gotta learn about bits. Is it a lower denomation of sats!?

Asking for a friend of course...

Bots is the old name for sats that didn’t catch on 🫡

I added bits to the bitcoin-qt gui. I like it because when 1 btc = $1 mil, then $1 usd would be 1 bit, and 1 sat would be 1 cent. 100 sats = 1 bit. Its mentally easy for people to reason about for a near term price of bitcoin.

I use bits when determining the sizes of my lightning channels. I think the only other person who agreed with me was jimmy song (who authored bip176) and adam back.

The bit denomination has also been used historically:

Ahh I see.

The “bits” people don’t even agree what bits are. Some of them want to use bits instead of sats, but others use bits as a completely other denomination where 1 bit = 100 sats. 😂

Yup. This "bits" was a thing back around 2015ish or whenever it was that btc hit $1000. I made a calculator for it. There was talk of bits, ubits/microbits, millibits, mbits. It was/is confusing (reason I made the calc). I say stay "sats" as that's where we're heading.

I like sats better

I'd be more inclined to call them "bitty" or "bittys" to make it plural
