This is a "video" that is interpreted from only a few (3-4?) still images of the Mt. St Helens blast. So part of it is "fake" to give you an idea of what it would have looked like in motion.

A man named Harry Truman (not the President) was living on Spirit Lake, and refused to evacuate. He claimed that he lived on the mountain, and he'd die on the mountain. He might have been able to see this at close range.

That makes a lot of sense. They should have given that mountain man a camera to record it for us.

They wouldn't have been able to find it. The lake was burried in massive amounts of ash.

There were survivors that have stories of everything turning black, and breathing the heat caused damage to their repiratory systems. They describe a living nightmare.

I can't remember the name of the documentary I used to have. This link might be it. If not, I'm sure it has interesting info anyway.
