Creative analogy. I think he must not understand the concrete supply aspect of bitcoin. Maybe the real estate in Manhattan analogy would be good to use as well.

I think he underestimates the portion of the bid that is represented by folks who absolutely do not care what the price is

I once thought about my quantity in terms of usd price. When I changed my framework my life became simpler. I hope he may share my experience.
