So when Russia attacks the USA today. Your argumentation would then follow to install a russian leader. Since defending the country leads to death on both sides. And this is most important that it does not happen. Therefore defending should be something bad.

No that's not my argument. The specific circumstances here are that Ukraine doesn't seem able to defend itself without continued Western funding, and also negotiations to end the war are plausible.
Would you prefer more US + EU + UK funding and weapons and for the war to continue (even at the risk of Russia using nuclear weapons)?
I would prefer US, UK and other nuclear states to either commit to their obligations in defending Ukrainian sovereignty and borders make us a 3rd biggest nuclear country again.

I generally agree. But it is not normal human behaviour, to think egoistic. Normal is empathic, feeling with others and support. Egoistic behaviour is trained.

I think that our homo sapiens nature is egoistic, but we as humanity want to believe in something bigger, in our exceptional role in the universe — and transition from egoism to empathy/altruism etc — is one of the steps
However, problems, like a war for instance — push us back to our root, to nature, to egoism.
So while we should try to act as we are all together here and we have a greater goal — it is totally justifiable when we try to save our own shit
