Maoism is a kind of communism that believes in a single party controlling the government and the economy with relatively more decentralization of governance than under Soviet style communism. What we see in Seattle and many American Democratic Party controlled cities is definitely broken in many ways. But it’s a kind of failure where they’re not socialist enough to provide housing, healthcare, and other basic needs to everyone nor are they enough pro-market to make sure things like housing and healthcare are abundant and affordable.

The Democrats are a centrist neoliberal party in comparison to European politics. Criticizing them as marixist is both lazy and inaccurate. If you think they’ve got bad policies that’s fine but throwing out random labels from 20th century ideologies which mostly don’t translate to the 21st century doesn’t help your case.
