Before you go, how did you manage to copy/paste post? Asking to see how we can improve this! πŸΆπŸΎπŸ«‘πŸ«‚

I had it in my clipboard on my phone apparently and then went to copy something else to paste and it said it copied but apparently didn't. (I might have been stoned as well) Maybe a client reminder that scans for an nsec being input and says "Hey dumbass.. that's a private key"?

Got it. My approach is whenever I copy paste nsec, I immediately copy some other random crap to clear it! See you in a new account! πŸΆπŸΎπŸ«‘πŸ«‚

It's a communal account now!

Oh shit?

Ugh sorry to hear that. Where will you post your new account pubkey so I can refollow? πŸ™

So, how does this work?

As you used an external paid NIP-05 service, anyone can pay another invoice and have any new key linked now.

Also the LN address on your new account is different compared to your old one, so that's not helping either.

Without an out-of-bounds verification, nobody can know what your new account is.

I changed my LN addy back to the one I used on the other account. I'll get verified another way. Shit happens. I've made so many mistakes in crypto since 2010 that it doesn't even phase me anymore. Just another learning experience

I was more thinking about the general case, how to recover from this with proper verification. This wasn't the first time, and it'll probably happen again.

It's shitty, but at least there's no money involved.

Right. I'm much more careful with keys most times trust me. I am still, unfortunately, human lol. It would be great to work on a NIP for things like this but I cannot code

This will happen to many people. Will delegation solve this?

wait! you can get the priv key from either of the sites you're logged into or from the accounts tab on alby
