This may be a dumb question but...

What's the best way to try to help other people? In the most meaningful ways, of course -- not just helping them tie their shoe, etc. -- though I'm not above helping someone tie their shoe LOL

If I was going to leave my house and go out into the world everyday from 10a-3p everyday, let's say, (or do things from my computer), what could I do to have the most impact on individual people's lives and help them solve their problems or help them achieve an important meaningful goal, etc.?

I’m sure with this sort of attitude you’ll be able to find loads of ways to help.

Maybe go into something you’re interested in.

I have a lot of experience with automation and engineering so not much use there. I also have a passion for maps and mapping so I help out at the local hospital- when folk get lost I walk them to their destination- it’s easy for me but difficult for many users of the hospital- no one’s challenged me yet - I think the staff think I’m a surgeon or something as they all smile and hold doors open. I’d go into healthcare if you can. Gawd only knows they need the help here in the UK.

It can depend on how much you make. If you’re making a lot of money you could be better off making as much as you can and giving it away to givewell.org rather than doing something solo. Not as rewarding for you but may be more impactful overall

Thank you 😁

I start by really listening to them. Some times that’s all they need is to be truly heard and seen. Sometimes it’s hard and doesn’t turn out so well but by and large it’s worth it.
