Looks like a couple of days ago nostr:npub180cvv07tjdrrgpa0j7j7tmnyl2yr6yr7l8j4s3evf6u64th6gkwsyjh6w6 reorganized the GitHub org and team for nostr-protocol. Is this what you’re talking about? I see 19 people in the team as having commit access.

I spent years in and around the Ruby on Rails community. They eventually developed rails-core which had a process for joining and leaving. While a protocol is different from a framework, this feels broadly similar. Rails wasn’t perfectly managed but it has worked for almost 20 years and handled a bunch of conflicts while staying open. Nostr feels broadly similar.

He’s talking about the fact nostr:npub180cvv07tjdrrgpa0j7j7tmnyl2yr6yr7l8j4s3evf6u64th6gkwsyjh6w6 removed the authors tags from the NIPS and how he went about doing it.

FWIW, I don’t think the NIPs should have owners or authorities so asking for consent to remove the attribution doesn’t make sense as the people who wrote them were never the owners (it’s stated as “public domain” after all)

Do what works for you, but dont remove the authorship from the work of others, without consent. And certainly not in 12 hours. That is not an open process.

I think Melvin may be too used to the W3C world where the spec is the only thing that matters and people write tons of specs and then 99% of them are never implemented but they still talk about the specs and spec authors with religious respect and ceremony -- so he thinks the NIPs repo is a very powerful entity.

In fact the NIPs repo is constantly running behind implementations and trying to stay relevant in a chaotic scenario of 32 different clients each with their own priorities.

Yeah I’ve worked with standards bodies and there are problems. In particular there is the way language around inclusivity and support are used to create overly complicated standards that are subject to capture by institutional players. I worked on OAuth and saw how the original vision, elegant security, and simplicity of OAuth 1.0 was lost so we could neet the needs of google.

IETF does a better job than W3C but they’re all operating under a paradigm of big companies making very static systems.

Rough consensus and running code is bettet than a consortium where you need to pay $50k a year and have full time staffers in order to participate in the open standards process.

thank🙏u🫵for ur work on oauth- the adoption and hijacking of the concept proves the valuableness 😁🤷‍♂️- im a web solutions architect- im always thinkin about things- ultimately- if there is a sensor on ur phone or computer that can pick up ur personal resonant frequency vibration "fingerprint"- we could use that to finally fix all auth🤷‍♂️- we may have the components available to make it happen right NOW- obviously keepin it open source😳🤷‍♂️- id love to hear ur thoughts friend- i feel this is really the last missing component to solidifying our sovereign rights and access on an individual level- we can then wrap all services secured by the individual themselves- (im havin flashes of ipv6 in my head🤣) 🥳💫✌️

also- still bein new to this protocol/ platform- is there a strategic sso solution integrating nostr for webapps? in the last year ive been lookin into solid pods- conceptually great- execution so far is a little sketchy tbh🤷‍♂️- perhaps nostr can provide the backbone needed to hold pod info😁- i saw the web chat client with the ability for auth- thats freakin awesome! any steering would be greatly appreciated to focus my efforts in learnin- thanks🙏friends🥰✌️

Yep. nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft has been working on that. We’ll get there if we make it a priority.

AND this is my 3rd time trying to respond- the powers that currently b- will not win!😁- im chefboyrdave2.1 aka daveK- i would consider myself a solutions architect for web technologies- layer2-5 etc- i enjoy multi tiered webapps the most🤷‍♂️im a lb admin as well😁- id been lookin at- matrix- it seems a little kluge for my use case- which is where ur web chat would fit in nicely- i had been lookin into solid pod apps- theory is awesome- execution so far meh🤷‍♂️- which is where im hopeful nostr might be able to handle the user storage pod? i dont know enough about this yet but thats a short comin of solid pods that i see currently and this may have the potential we could leverage 🤔- im still learnin n diggin- this will b a fun journey! 🥰🥳💫✌️
