Even degoogled phones still use proprietary firmware, they are a temporary solution the ultimate are linux phones, with foss firmware.

Absolutely, but that requires them to actually exist in an affordable and functional format.
For now I choose the best option I'm able to have within my means.
Indeed but pinephones already exist and can run around 20 different distros already.

I do, pinephone+mobian(Debian mobile) and a librem5 with pureOS.
Nice! I've never run into anybody who actually has one. I like the idea, but seemed very fringe and new. Seems like a cool setup
It's nice being an early adopter on Linux, we learn many new things.
I've been running Linux primarily for 20 years, but it's not like we've had much in the way of phone hardware options π
