Wow actually useful advice!

Thank you - you also get my last #zap for the day.

Knowledge pays (sorry it’s not more)

I will give that a try.

So when do you use WD40?

I use it to unstick things and use as a first pass to deep clean greasy metal parts. But mostly used in context of unsticking stuck bolts or dislodging built up grime between parts. It's great at penetrating and dislodging gunk but it doesn't "stick" so it won't lube long term. It only seems like it lubes because all the built up crud is gone so it feels smoother. But to be honest, I prefer using PB Blaster whenever I need to use a WD40-like product. I find it's slightly less greasy feeling and penetrates faster/stronger.

Interesting. Weird q: can you use either of these as a first pass to clean an old bbq (get the rust/deep grease off) before actually cleaning it? Or it’s a harsh chemical so stay away?

Yeah, those are actually great products to use for cleaning rust. It gets under the rust and lifts it of. Spray it, let it sit for a min, then scrub off the rust. It's not too harsh as far as chemicals go so it shouldn't peel the paint either. Just make sure you repaint and seal up the spots where u removed the rust or else it'll appear again pretty quickly.
