Those ads pay for things like content moderation, anti spam systems etc. Many people do want these things. It should just be optional and alternatives should co-exist.

That’s true, and the client operators could accept ads in the same way that Bitcoin podcasters filter for Bitcoin sponsors
Right. For example: there's nothing stopping Astral to show a Foundation Passport hardware wallet ad in their side panel. Astral would just be sponsored by these Bitcoin companies. Ads don't have to be intrusive or cringe.
Or maybe you love a product so much you can contribute to the ad spend to help get the word out 😂
