The new Astral is 🔥🔥🔥
I haven't used Astral that much over the past week or two, using Snort as my go to on both mobile and desktop. However, Snort has been extremely slow and laggy for me the past few days. The experience has changed. I'm sure they'll fix it. In the meantime, it's back to Astral for me!

I only started using snort yesterday so I don’t have much to compare it to but it has seemed laggy. For example when I tap “like” it takes a second or two to reflect it on the screen. I’ve only used it so far on mobile (iOS Safari and Kiwi browser on Android). Both felt similarly laggy.
It was much snappier until about 4 days ago. I like the UI enhancements, but being unable to type and having my text input freeze as I'm typing is not a good time.
Yea. The UI looks great. I assume the performance issues will be sorted out. It will make for an excellent web client once they do.
I have been primarily using Snort and have not noticed this.
Snort has gotten so much better for me (that relay bug got me quite a bit 2 wks back i think). Coracle has made a huge comeback! Astral still doesn't stick for me - a bit overwhelming but i think a lot love it so its user preference perhaps. I love Iris the most - easy, clean, fast
Does snort wait for the username and pics every time? Or are they cached?
there's a noticeable delay every time while the profile pic and name load.

it used to be fast for me. everything from typing to clicking on buttons, all super delayed.
i honestly hope it gets worked out. i really appreciate #[4] and #[5] so, so much. and because of all of the issues that they've fixed for myself and others over the past couple of weeks, i know that they'll fix this too. i am super confident in their abilities 😉

That’s odd, Snort is blazing fast for me.
No problems with Snort here its really good, Astral won't even load for me anymore.
i'm not sure why, but everything is just slow. it's not a good experience like it used to be. i was getting really frustrated and decided to try out other clients and the experience is a night an day difference. i can't even see what im typing right now on snort.
exact opposite situation for me. snort is smooth like butter, and astral lags out all the time.
So, completely unscientific test for this. **IT'S NOTIFICATIONS.**
Every single time I get a new notification, I get lag. I can't type. I can't click on anything. The UI just freezes. I get a fuck ton of notifications. This is why I believe it happens to me all of the time, and fairly consistently when I'm using the client. Every single freeze lines up with me getting a new notification. #[1] #[2]

On the other hand, on mobile Astral so far never was great.
Feeling the same, the UI changes/cleanup made a bigger difference than I expected.
Feels quick, feels clean, threaded UI is pretty.
Snort is working way better for me
