I find it exhausting to invest any energy into the whole Knots vs. Core debate.

People make Bitcoin sound way more fragile than it really is.

I’ll just keep running my old version of Core for now, 'til you all sort this out.

The one thing I'm sure of is that Bitcoin will be just fine.

Hello nostr. It has been a while.

Incredible trip to El Salvador to meet Bukele and see for myself what has changed since last time I was there.

I think most that follow me, know where I stand on #bitcoin. That, as long as it stays decentralized and secure (which means it must be used as a medium of exchange) it is IMPOSING the first global free market that has ever existed. A competitive, yet cooperative protocol and network that forces abundance broadly. We are both the map and territory - our actions within it, and aligned to it, strengthen and protect Bitcoin, bringing more people to it and they each, in turn grow in their own understanding - which in turn strengthens it further. We are bitcoin, we are Satoshi. Each node (us) of sovereignty adding our voice, time, energy into something that changes the course of history.

Because that map of “what will be, or “what already is” (as long as it remains decentralized and secure) has never existed before, our minds have a hard time with it. So instead, most revert to measuring #bitcoin from within the system they have always known. This leads to most of the fights within bitcoin. People far deeper down the rabbit hole, versus those just entering or choosing to remain trapped (and not being able to yet see the bigger picture)

You can imagine - that change would be chaotic because the change……is the change within each of us. All 8 billion of us, and we often can’t see our own hypocrisy, the lies we tell ourselves. Etc etc. In addition, with over 3000 years of us living in a zero sum game - where someone else had to lose for us to win. So for many, it would seem normal to play by the rules of the old game.

This is why I went to El Salvador. I went to meet the President and see for myself who he was and what choices he might make along the way. Ie - how deep was he down the rabbit hole? Did he see El Salvador and himself as part of system change to a global free market that would permeate around the world - or would he be a pawn and be captured in a game that created imperialism 3.0? It was a very deep discussion…..lasting almost 2.5 hours. I came away convinced that he gets it. Moreover, he might be the most impressive leader of a country I have ever seen. Said to me, more people in El Salvador need to be in self custody, more need to use it as a currency, not in stablecoin but natively on lightning, more in non custodial. He understands the larger forces at play here.

El Salvador is still Bitcoin country, but is still early. Having a nation with security is a big deal. 50 years of poverty, gangs, wars, fear in a society doesn’t change overnight. (All of that caused by broken money and psyops)

It takes time to rebuild trust. I was last here the day after all the gang violence (coincidentally starting after introducing Bitcoin as legal tender)

Huge changes since I was last here, not only safer, but hopeful. That hope will lead to opportunity for people, and that opportunity to value creation. The downtown core in San Salvador, previously one of the most dangerous places in Central America is feels a like a European city with thousands out walking. Cool Social houses (Video below) shops everywhere with the hustle and bustle of people and opportunities. Bitcoin isn’t yet used broadly, but making inroads. I spent in it almost everywhere - but you could tell - bitcoin transactions are fairly rare.

Lots more to do, and big plans underway. Stay tuned!!!

And a huge thanks to Max and nostr:npub1pq2ll9l7qdmxsfqyrd5w9gul8c7ftqy9yepcqvc8a2l2ys9zhd6sk42rew for all their work in El Salvador and in helping make this a fantastic trip.

What a time to be alive!

Thank you Jeff. What an amazing experience that must've been.

I'm so glad that you were impressed with Nayib, and see him as such a great leader.

I'm seriously thinking about moving to El Salvador soon and workign to become a permanent resident.

Holy shit it's working! Paid a 100k sats Lightning invoice from two different Cashu mints at the same time.

Enter atomic multinut payments.

All Cashu wallets let you use multiple mints. To reduce rug risk, we encourage users to leave only small amounts on each mint. This introduces a big UX challenge which forces users to distribute funds on different mints in a smart way. It's particularly problematic when you're trying to pay a bigger Lightning invoice from your small balances. Who has time for that?

The Lightning protocol allows nodes to split a single payment HTLC into multiple parts to increase the chance of reaching the destination, called Multi-Path Payments (MPP). Typically, that's done from one sender to one receiver. What if... you can just break the rules?

A multinut payment originates from multiple Lightning nodes to pay a single invoice, atomically. Even if none of your mint balances can cover an invoice, as long as your total balance is large enough, you can pay the invoice.

I don't think anyone was crazy enough to do this before. Pretty sure what you see here is the first invoice being paid using a CLN and an LND node at the same time. Amazing work by the team, special thanks to nostr:nprofile1qqsw8lr88lzln8x92ng073m4v72kglf9edhxvk8eztg3ftny98f46dgpz4mhxue69uhkummnw3ezummcw3ezuer9wchsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ehx7um5wghxyctwvshsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wshsk9y93w.

Congrats! I can't wait to start learning more about this.

For whatever reason, I have no ability to follow people on nostr. The follow buttons haven't worked for me for months, I have no idea why, and no one seems to be able to help me.

That being said, I have reposted and liked. Wish I could follow!

It seems like I'm the only one on here who has technical difficulties using NOSTR that make it too annoying to use.

I've been patiently waiting for some of these issues to resolve, but they never seem to.

For example, I cannot follow anyone on nostr:nprofile1qyx8wumn8ghj7cnjvghxjmcpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqzrthwden5te0dehhxtnvdakqz8nhwden5te0dehhxarj94c82c3wwajkcmr0wfjx2u3wdejhgtcpr4mhxue69uhkummnw3ezucnfw33k76twv4ezuum0vd5kzmp0qyf8wumn8ghj7mmxve3ksctfdch8qatzqythwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnrw4e8yetwwshxv7tfqyt8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnwdaehgu3wvfskueqpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgqgcwaehxw309aex2mrp0yh8xmn0wf6zuum0vd5kzmqqypfjmqcdllsfcyl8t693ghyz2uv0cy4sqqlkr4s7jpmhy8rll7fuk34pfty When I click the follow button, nothing happens.

It's been like this for months. I've tried different computers and different browsers. Same issue.

When I try different clients, I'm often presented with a new host of issues that make things frustrating.

I dont understand how you all are having this smooth and great experience on here.

I want to love nostr, I'm in love with the whole idea, but the usability is quite bad in my experience.

NEW CLIENT ANNOUNCEMENT

https://m.primal.net/LDNn.mp4

I wanted to build on nostr and I asked OpenSats for a grant to work on ONOSENDAI one day per week. I scaled back my hours at my fiat job and began part time nostr development to work on a novel metaverse project where all actions require proof of work. This was the beginning of my nostr career. Today is a huge milestone in that journey.

It took me 52 Fridays from proof of concept to reality, and now ONOSENDAI functions as the first cyberspace client.

Today I present to you the thermodynamic update to #ONOSENDAI https://onosendai.tech

#welcometocyberspace folks. It's finally here. Check it out on desktop for the best experience. More updates for a better Mobile experience are in the pipeline.

I'm working on a video to explain cyberspace and how to use ONOSENDAI and I'll post it ASAP.

The short tutorial is this:

- WASD for movement (relative to camera)

- Q = down, E = up

- ESC to put camera behind avatar

- Mouse Click and drag to move camera

- Mouse Wheel to change Throttle

Sections of the app:

LOCAL

This is the on-the-ground cyberspace view. The shiny polygon you begin your journey in is your Home Coordinate, which is simply your hex pubkey. Your journey always starts here if you derezz (or get derezzed) at any point, but your progress is saved to nostr and your avatar will travel even when you're away from the app!

SECTOR

This is the 10,000ft view of cyberspace. Nearby sectors are automatically scanned for objects of interest and mapped in 3D: other avatars, hyperjumps, shards, and constructs (coming soon).

GLOBAL

This is the 100,000,000ft view of cyberspace. The staggeringly large full coordinate system is shown.

BUILD

This tab is a 3D editor that lets you build 3D objects called Shards. Shards can be mined and planted wherever you are at in cyberspace for everyone to admire. In the LOCAL tab you can mine and deploy a Shard at your current position. The size and complexity of the shard determines its mining difficulty.

Terminology:

- coord - a cyberspace coordinate is a 256-bit number, just like event ids and public keys.

- chain - the nostr events representing your movement which contain proof-of-work and are linked together via hash

- sector - a 2^30 cube area of cyberspace

- G - Gibson, the unit of measurement in cyberspace named after William Gibson (the author who invented the concept of cyberspace)

- plane - The last bit in a cyberspace coordinate determines its plane. Depending on your pubkey you will either be in D-Space or I-Space. You will be able to switch planes in a future update. All points in D-Space map to a real point in reality, including Earth. All points in I-Space are virtual.

Despite the polish I was able to muster, ONOSENDAI is still in its infancy, and so is cyberspace. It's up to you to explore, build, discover, and push it forward, because unlike other metaverses, this one belongs to everyone and is controlled by no-one. That's the whole point!

I would like to invite all #cyberspace enthusiasts to join my new ditto instance at https://straylight.cafe and use your nostr identity to ask questions, discuss cyberspace, futurism, and how to build this new world together. I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I want to shut down the ONOSENDAI telegram group in favor of Straylight Café because it's nostr based, so hop on over and make it happen!

When you join Straylight.cafe, it isn't connected to any external relays on purpose, so you must edit your profile and customize it for how you want your npub to appear on this site. Whatever you post on Straylight stays there and doesn't go out to the rest of nostr unless you do so manually. It's like an open telegram group -- public, but not broadcasted by default.

And so concludes my OpenSats grant. I want to thank so many people for supporting me, encouraging me, and helping me along this journey.

I am going to try to list everyone I can and I apologize if I miss someone:

#OTHERSTUFF

I don't quite understand it yet, but the aesthetics of what you built are absolutely inspiring!

Aristotle identified three forms of government:

1. Rule of One (Monarchy)

2. Rule of Few (Oligarchy)

3. Rule of Many (Democracy)

Which one do you believe is preferable?

What's the best web-client for nostr currently available?

Bitcoiners, like Libertarians, often obsess over ideological purity while missing the bigger picture: politics is about power, not principles.

Trump doesn’t need to ‘get’ Bitcoin.

He needs to disrupt the system.

Purists want saints, but history is moved by sinners who break the game.

Two impeachments.

Four indictments.

Two assassination attempts.

Still standing.

It's starting to seem pretty obvious that God is insisting that Trump becomes President again.

I don't game much, but when I do it's to stay in touch with people I love.

I play a little escape from tarkov with an old friend.

I play Walkabout Minigolf on the Quest 2 with my Dad.

I've read several great ones, but you asked for one so I'll go with the Steve Jobs biography by Walter Isaacson.

I found it to be very inspiring and really, really funny.

Bought bitcoin in 2013 when pumped to like $800

held it until 2017

lost a huge chunk of it on shitcoins

saw the light in 2020, became maximalist

sold everything i own, moved into parents basement to stack relentlessly

I regret to inform you that I am not.

In my heart, I will always be an Anarchist, but in my mind, through reason, I have determined that Monarchy is the best structure for government if it is to exist.

In my heart, I’ll always have the spirit of an Anarchist, yearning for true freedom from coercion. But in my mind, reason and my understanding of history (beyond just the 20th century) leads me to conclude that monarchy is the most effective and stable form of government, if government is to exist at all.

Libertarians dream of a stateless utopia, but history shows that societies need order and leadership.

I expect we’ll see a growing Monarchist faction within Bitcoin culture, as people realize that libertarian ideals, while appealing, are ultimately too idealistic for a complex world.

I sympathize with both perspectives, but monarchy offers a more realistic path to achieving long-term stability and avoiding the chaos inherent in democratic and decentralized systems.

I'm not trying to convert you, but just offering my perspective.

It's interesting you bring up Huxley, because the real servitude is already here—under democracy. People love the illusion of freedom they’re sold, not realizing they’re ruled by faceless bureaucracies, media elites, and corporate interests. We already serve, but we serve an abstract and disordered system that hides its masters behind a façade of "choice."

Bending the knee to a king isn't servitude in the dystopian sense Huxley imagined. It's a recognition of reality: societies need order and structure. Under monarchy, you serve something tangible, a ruler with clear responsibilities and long-term investment in the nation's well-being. Modern democracy, meanwhile, encourages blind servitude to a system that thrives on chaos and distraction, where no one is truly accountable.

The truth is, most people already love their servitude. Try arguing 'taxation is theft' with your average non-libertarian, and you will find this out really quick. The difference is, monarchy is at least honest about power, and that honesty creates a healthier, more stable social order.

1000 days with 0 missed. I've had a lot of close calls though. A few shakes at 11:55pm.

913,069 sats stacked for free.

I might be in the minority here, but I think Twitter/X under Elon's rule is pretty excellent. Not perfect, but orders of magnitude better than what it was before.

Nostr is great and important, but it isn't the public square. Not yet, anyway. X is.

I admire what Elon is doing with it.

I'm okay with the idea of having a King, and I think we will see a new, better type of feudalism under a Bitcoin Standard. It's a good thing.
