I had to make a wire transfer to buy my house a few years ago. The morning I went in, the bank told me the system was down and I should come back in a few hours.
It worked when I got back, but I can't believe how ridiculous it is that most people still use this shit on purpose.
I had the shit. told me to come back the next day. had to print a form, fill it out with a pen, then watch some boomer type it into a pc at 3wpm

Precisely the reason why the Indian government will not allow cross-border payments using Bitcoin. It is a way for the Indian government to take their cut from western union and companies like this.
The sheer number of Indian people working outside of India that send money back to family is massive
Had to use a bank for this last week. EU country to EU country. I wired the money in Friday afternoon, received them today at noon. Honestly I can’t find a practical enough excuse for banks still existing.
Banks hurt to use. My bank lets me have Bill Pay active on my account for free. But, if I don’t use it at least once during the month they charge me a $4.95 fee for having it. So, I scheduled a recurring payment to myself for $4.95. Now, every month they send a check from me to themselves that they deposit to my account and email me a receipt for. Somehow, that’s better. They’re eating themselves.

I once had a bank that charged me monthly for a checking account unless I used my debit card 5 times a month, so I’d buy five1$ amazon gift cards every month. I ended up with more amazon money than cash in that account

The bank charges us $8.00 to have the stupid thing. It omly pays 0.01% interest. Why is this something anyone needs?
