I’ve tried all kinds of different servers and Navidrome was the best for me. Jellyfin was terrible for a music library and server.

It should be pretty straightforward to set up but if you have any trouble let me know. Happy to help.

For apps Symfonium is incredible on Android. play:sub is the best I’ve found for iOS. iOS selection is not as good as Android.

I’m trying out VLC on iOS. Seems really good so far. I’ll look into play:sub

Oh I didn’t know VLC supported subsonic. Love VLC on desktop so I’ll try that out too!

What’s subsonic?

It’s the API that Navidrome conforms to. So any subsonic client will work with Navidrome.

Does navidrome work similarly to jellyfin, where it looks up the metadata of a movie and finds the artwork and other interesting infos?

Yea it can hook into Last.FM or I think Spotify. You can also use Picard to put the metadata files and artwork alongside your library. If you do that Navidrome will serve those.

Cool! Looking into it now 🫡

nostr:npub1mcneaunh0n9qy54sse0vr06nwhejzghumfjlmu3r54ugwx83qhlshqwtll you were right VLC doesn’t support subsonic directly. I’ll try Play:sub 🤙🏾

Navidrome was really straightforward to install

Can you download songs locally with play:sub ?
