Sorry if this is a naive question but how would one go about starting to run a #lighting #node? Even just 1k sats a month would make it worth it for me. Please point me to a resource no how to get started 🙏🏼🧡
Have any technical expertise? If you can run some docker containers you should manage fine.
Start with these:

Don't put any amounts on it that would be life changing for you until your understand and have tested your disaster recovery process VERY well. You should be able to reliably recover your node from nothing and understand how and why before you put serious coin on it.
If you want to get serious about it it's largely pretty safe at this point from a software standpoint but systems break, fires take out homes, hard drives crash, availability zones could go away if you cloud host... Just a world to the wise from someone who maintains large production systems.

its not very profit friendly unless ur a whale/og? i updated umbrel APP and rln/thunderhub did not boot, had to uninstall and all channeled forced closed. definitly operating at a loss. but im here to learn/support. looking to open channels in future , Softhardy on liquidity, add me as a peer plz! ill add u!
my ln node did not boot either* which caused everything to close as i had to reinstall it (thank god it worked afterwards, and i was able to recover my node/balance with seed phrase successfully, so that was cool.. mf almost couldnt find the metal plates, but i did, still had paper too. Fk that was not fun
So I've done this for over a year on my own, no custody services. Providing liquidity of >10M sats. The result: set a fee of over 10 sats: no routing. Then I thought: set fees to 1 sat so I'll get routing. So I did. The result of that was that those that opened a channel with me instantly drained those channels and made my channels unballanced. It resulted in me being suspicious of sats laundering. After a while of me reballancing those channels, I had enough of it. All channels closed. For now, I won't be having channels anymore. I wanted to support the lightning network, but it only got me frustration and extra work. My goal wasn't even to earn sats in the first place. 😏
