Is greater than 1 million the right size for a long term UTXO, or are we already in greater than 2 million territory?
Or something else?

Generally 1 million.. but truly no one knows 😂
Interesting, never considered future high fees but it makes a lot of sense to prep utxos now if onchain fees are expected to increase significantly. Been avoiding consolidation for privacy reasons so far.
Consolidate by using a coinjoin/mixing service. Samourai's whirlpool has been my go-to for years now. Sometimes I forget and leave them remixing for months, then take them out, one UTXO at a time. That way you end up with nice large, privacy-protected UTXOs to hodl onto.
Try to keep the UTXOs as large as possible (based on the pool choices), but it's also a good idea to a have a few smaller ones - The more diverse the better, it's about striking that balance between number of UTXOs and how large the UTXOs are - Even smaller UTXOs are useful after all and may be preferred to larger ones even in high-fee scenarios.
Thank for you commenting. Well said. Nice to have different sized UTXOs, no one can predict the ideal future scenario.
I think you’ll be fine with that. The point is to not have UTXOs that are in the 4-5 digit range as future fees could render them unspendable.
If the fees would go under 10sat/b I think about making some greater consolidation.. like 2/5 million minum? I mean, why not? Carpe diem.
1 million sats is a decent size given long term trends for lower fees. Assuming a high fee rate of 250 sats/vb, that still results in a lower transaction fee, as a percentage, than traditional fiat purchases.
I have this same question. not a lot of consensus it appears.
I've changed my whirlpool mixes to be 1M each now though.
a full taproot transaction with one input and one output has a virtual weight of 111
Im case of a stable mimimum fee of 1000 sats/vweight for send a UTXO of a 1 milion you will spend 110000 sata, so the 10% of the original value of the UTXO
for a decade long storage term, i would chose at least 2 milion sats per UTXO
I'm doing 2 million. Good question. Thanks for starting the convo with specifics
