iOS is a shitcoin. Apps are not permitted unless signed by a cert blessed by apples master keys. They can revoke any app's validity at any time. Maximum time to use an app offline after revocation is 1 year before the apps signature expires (if revoked you must be online so that revocation checks won't be automatically performed).

Jailbreaking an iphone is worth it simply to run apps without permission from apple. Unfortunately in the process of jailbreaking you lose security guarantees provided by iOS.

Android natively allows side-loading. You can install any app that you can compile for your device. No blessing needed, no yearly fee (tithe) required to be a developer.

So, are you really for freedom and self-soverignty if you rely on iOS?

"But web apps can't be censored!"

Apple was able to disable the native airdrop functionality in China during protests. Airdrop is a function of the OS just like Safari. It is a peer to peer communication by design. There was no server they turned off, there was no reliance on apple-run infrastructure. They turned it off anyway.

Maybe they won't censor Safari, but they can.
