They said January but I don't know what date. I heard it on a podcast and it took me a while but I got mine out on time. Hope you didn't get locked in for credits.

I think that’s exactly what happened. Ie I have a credit of some form, but have to figure out Alby hub

Not against switching products, just would prefer to do it without the threat of SATS being taken

Guess also a good example of using a custodial wallet

Alby has been about as vocal that they would be retiring the custodial wallet on January 3rd (Proof of Keys day) for some time now. Months and months. I don't know how much more they could have done to make sure their users switched in time. They even chose a date that would be significant for Bitcoiners and associated with taking your coins into your own custody so we wouldn't have a hard time remembering when we needed to do it by.

I get it. We all have a life and aren't always tapped into what is going on, but they really did make every effort to ensure their users were aware it was coming well in advance, and the deadline for moving their funds. This was absolutely not a rugpull or an effort to grab users' sats for themselves.

I encourage you to give Alby Hub a try, especially if you have your own node you can run it on. It is a fantastic product, and a massive improvement over the custodial wallet, even without taking into consideration that they no longer hold the keys to your funds.

If you would rather stick with a custodial option, I would recommend CoinOS.

Really appreciate your message. Thanks. I love it when I see happy users support a business and product

Honestly, I read all notifications, and emails, and I never saw anything about the wallet changing

Anyways their support has been in touch, so I am sure I can sort it out

Hey, you could use coinos.io, get a nwc connection secret, then go to your getalby.com/dashboard , then Wallet Configuration, then click on link your wallet and choose the bottom option, a manual nwc connection, past there the string of the coinos.io wallet. Then you can transfer the funds.

Just managed to do this. Thanks so much Jean-Paul

You can consider joining an Alby Hub group onboarding, where an Alby team member will guide you and other members to start using the Hub, for whenever you are ready to give it a try.
