In this instance I feel better putting faith in my fellow man than trusting my $5 wasn't stolen.
There is a point there, except it’s all public and I’ll be screenshoting the wallet at the end and the subsequent donation. I truly believe in this cause and would never want to take away from them. Sounds like “trust me bro”, but I am man of my word! (Plus I could never step foot in Nostr again as I’m not anonymous either.
Transparancy is key

In this case there was a lot of trusted points of validation within the community, along with some of the points #[6] has already mentioned.
Moving forward for other future causes, #[7] is a great resource with utilizing multisig for large scale fundraising.
I like the multisig idea. I don’t know a lot about the tip jar technology of the Lighting tip bot, but using the jar as a front end with something like a 3:3 or 5:5 multisig to direct the funds would be pretty secure and trustworthy in my opinion. Being on layer 2 definitely changes things since its off chain, but we have ways to still be transparent other than on chain activity. Good suggestion!
Love your cause and was happy to contribute my small amount. But, it does bring up interesting questions. I feel it’s not an if, but when there’s a rug pull in the name of charity by a “trusted” community member.

I just wanted to raise the question because once the shitcoiners smell donations they will be all over the place "raising funds"...
Just bad human beeings, I think there is more honesty in the maxi culture so the transparency part will do it.

Oh no worries, I am with you completely. We’re here building, but once the grifters show up, it will be a totally different place. We need to ask these questions now and address them before they become a problem.
I kinda did this last minute, but should’ve had them create an account and wallet to donate directly to as well. Next fundraiser event in October, that may be the plan.
