Hello, my bf doesn’t currently have service where he’s at currently and I have a smol leak in my tire. The dude at autozone won’t sell me fix a flat bc he said it would create a bigger issue.

I don’t think I need to buy a whole new tire…

What’s the best option?

Take it to discount tire and see if they can fix it

Can’t I do it myself? Is there better option?

It's unlikely that you could permanently fix it yourself. Have you found the leak? As long as it isn't in the sidewall, they could patch it. I've had a couple screws/nails in my tires that they fixed and I never had an issue again.

While yes, you can plug one your self, discount will fix it for free as long as it’s not in the sidewall. I do as much of my own maintenance as I can but I take my leaky tires to discount lol

The only bigger issue fix a flat causes is for the person that actually fixes the flat in the future has all the gunk to deal with. other than that it is nothing to worry about at all and is perfectly okay to use fix of flat.

Damn gatekeeper

Why do you have a small leak in your tire?

I’m not sure? Just popped up out of no where.

First figure out where the leak is coming from. Do you see any nails or anything in the tread? Do you still have good tread depth on your tires? Inspect the sidewall of the tire make sure nothing is leaking from there.

Quick question did it get really cold overnight in your location and have you checked the tire pressure in your other tires? Sometimes one tire will set off the sensor when they’re all reading a little low just from the first cold snap. If that’s the case you just need to add some air to bring up the psi in your tires now that it’s colder.

I checked the other tires and they maintained 42 psi. I filled this one on Sunday and it was at 31 psi today

That’s a slow leak. I’d check the tread carefully to see if there’s a nail or screw still lodged in the tire keeping the leak slow. Likely will be able to be patched depending on if your tire itself is in good condition.

Change it to a spare and take it to a shop

Definitely get a new boyfriend with better service! 😂

Noh lol he’s the best

A tire shop can probably take care of it for a small fee
