I’m not sure where that number is coming from. Since he was bought out he only collects 1/5 of his Bucks buyout ($22.5M) and his new ($14M) from the Blazers for a total of $36.5M not $70M. But maybe my understanding is wrong.

The Bucks’ decision to waive Lillard meant the team had to stretch the remaining $113 million on his contract, making it the highest buyout in NBA history. Lillard will now make $70 million total next season and $141 million over the next two years, according to ESPN.

It probably doesn’t matter. It was explained to me that his stretch would be paid out over 5 years but ESPN wrote he gets it over 2 years 🤷🏻‍♂️
