Did Cardinal Robert Prevost -- "Pope Leo XIV" -- give any reasons for choosing "Leo"?

- It was Pope Leo X who authorized the sale of indulgences that led to Martin Luther's 95 Theses and eventually the Protestant Reformation.

- It was Pope Leo XIII (the "Social Pope") who wrote the encyclical "Rerum novarum," which condemned both socialism and laissez-faire capitalism.

- The much earlier "St." Leo the Great helped prepare for the definition of Chalcedon (451 A.D.)

Quick internet researches indicate that "his views align closely with his predecessor's"...here's a [report](https://collegeofcardinalsreport.com/cardinals/robert-francis-prevost/) ...any RCs care to comment?

Today is the anniversary of the apparition of the Archangel Michael to Pope Leo XIII, which Pope then gave us the St. Michael prayer.

I Leo XIII also wrote the encyclical "Rerum Novarum," a seminal teaching document on capital and labor that has shaped the Church's approach to human dignity in the economic sphere in modern times.

Prevost also formerly served as the head of the Augustinian order.

My favorite encyclical. I've read it 10 times, at least.
