My favorite day of the month. In Japanese they often make pun-like jokes using dates. For example today, the 28th, 2 is read as に (ni) and 8 (八) which is usually pronounced “hachi” can also be read as わ (wa). So 28 is にわ(niwa) the word for chicken is also “niwa-tori” (鶏).

So KFC always have specials on the 28th of each month as chicken day!

29 is にく(niku) = meat day.

There are many other funny ones that some Japanese nostriches actually told me about last month… but I forgot!

Was it 22? I think someone said Lawson always has stuff with strawberries on top on the 22nd, because if you look on a calendar, 15 is above 22 and 15 is Ichigo (strawberry)
