It seems to exist universally

Which is why it is essential we have moderation for nostr

Not global moderation - but individual moderation. I’m seeing things on my feed I don’t wanna see. My spitball idea is using my own self hosted vision model that’s tuned for me. It will be the gatekeeper for what I see. 🤷‍♀️ wonder if that idea would work.

no, each client can inact moderation but the protocol can never

Right - but the client I WANT TO USE should have exactly the moderation I want

I don’t want to see anime kid pictures anymore 🤢

I’m just wondering if self moderation (not sure what to call it) works.

It’s like not watching movies you know aren’t for you. Or changing the channel. 🤷‍♀️ thinking out loud

I agree , sorry I posted before reading your whole note. it's sick what these other socials allow/even promote

All good.

Well then you’re talking about other socials “allowing/promoting” things.

I’m not sure that the open Internet even allows for global/central moderation - sure isnt100% effective. Perhaps nostr teaches us that you can’t moderate centrally. Or if you could, we just don’t have the technology yet and it would be dystopian. It’s sad to read stories of what human moderators have to go through. Also sad to see the Internet, firewall of China

Perpetual cat and mouse game perhaps

Yeah, just using your WoT to determine what you fetch and what you block should get is very far.

For everything else, there’s communities, where moderation is explicit and centralized.

My dude patience, the video is almost done, jeeeeeez
