Both have their pros and cons. I understand why some users prefer single-line notifications. I’ll add an option in settings today so users can choose.
Cool. Another thing is that there is currently no way to know if there are "quotes" without tapping on the quote tab. For all the others (reply, reaction, etc.) you can just look up.

Yeah, that works. Yakihonne has that.
Or just put the number on the tabs (1) and (2).
