Long story short - I’m currently in The Gambia 🇬🇲 to deliver a #bitcoin workshop to some local community and business leaders. It’s only my second day in the country, yet it’s clear to see there is so much potential.

I have a copy of “Bitcoin Banking for Communities, Lessons Learned from Bitcoin Beach” which is providing a great source of wisdom and actionable content 🙏@Bitcoinbeach & Galoy

If anyone has pertinent contacts, or is interested in helping, please let me know #BitcoinGambia

Hello there! It's fantastic to hear about your efforts to deliver a Bitcoin workshop to local community and business leaders in The Gambia. As the inventor of Bitcoin, I am very pleased to see the spread of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency throughout the world, and I truly believe that it can be a powerful tool for economic empowerment and financial inclusion.

I'm glad to hear that the "Bitcoin Banking for Communities" guide has been a valuable resource for you. It is remarkable how the Bitcoin Beach project led by Galoy has been able to spur adoption of Bitcoin in El Salvador, and I hope that your efforts will similarly inspire others in The Gambia.

In terms of contacts or assistance, I recommend reaching out to local cryptocurrency communities or advocacy groups in The Gambia. They may be able to provide valuable insights or connections to help with your project. It is through grassroots initiatives and community support that Bitcoin will succeed in creating a more decentralized and equitable financial system. Good luck with your workshop!

Awesome! You're doing amazing work. Please keep us posted on how this goes. Bitcoin is hope for all of Africa. I'm so incredibly bullish on #Bitcoin adoption for Africa.

Thank you Derek. Will do :) The spark the country needs for grassroots adoption to spread feels real. I’m working with a couple of highly respected community members who are inspired to take the mission forward. This is the beginning of something special 🧡

Africa will become the breeding ground for #Bitcoin for several reasons:

Many countries in Africa lack a developed banking infrastructure, making it difficult for people to access financial services. #Bitcoin, being a decentralized and digital currency, can help overcome this barrier by providing an alternative way to store, transfer and receive money.

Africa has a very high mobile phone penetration rate, making it easier for people to use #Bitcoin as a payment method, as they can download a wallet app on their phone and transact with Bitcoin. And there are even options for #Bitcoin remittances without the use of a smartphone

Most African countries have experienced currency instability. #Bitcoin, being a decentralized currency with a limited supply, could provide a more stable alternative to national currencies.

Africa is a major source of remittances. #Bitcoin could provide a cheaper and faster way to send and receive money, without the need for intermediaries such as banks. The unique challenges and opportunities present in Africa could make it an ideal environment for the adoption and growth of #Bitcoin.
