Is there a way (preferably within the wallet of Electrum itself) to find out what is the seed type in use; bip39 or Electrum's type.
any insight is highly appreciated!

If you look at wallet > information, you'll find a derivation path. As far as I know, wallets generated by Electrum will be m/0’, while wallets generated elsewhere and then imported in Electrum (specifying at thet moment that they are BIP39) will be m/44’/, or m/49’/, or m/84’/.
Electrum can import BIP39 type wallets, butgeneratesi only wallets following its standard.
