Had a discussion with my wife about what was the bigger tragedy. The Holocaust or slavery of black people. We disagreed.

What are your thoughts?

Discussion

Y’all disagreed on what 🤷🏽‍♂️

I thought the Holocaust was the bigger tragedy.

Cool 👍🏽

That being said, I think it isn’t wise to compared tragedies in the first place. It’s not a competition. It was because we watched the movie „You People“ and they had exactly that discussion. That’s how it started

Ok 👍🏽

Great Chinese Famine was estimated 15-55 million people.

Having a government control food supply will do that to a population.

Wide range of a death toll. Modern day Uyghur slavery and organ harvesting is literally going on now. It’s a tragedy we literally fund it with our purchasing power.

I would say that conversation can go on forever with different degrees of relativity. 🤪

Horrible

Both were terrible. No need for comparisons.

Yes

We watched „You People“ and they had this conversation. That’s how it started. But I agree, there is no point in comparing them. Both were some of the lowest points in human history

My opinion is that it shouldn’t be a oppression olimpics

Agree!

Lol yeah it’s best to attack the system and infrastructure that allowed and encouraged these things to happen 😅

Holocaust. Germany here. We are still number 1 in terms of super-brutal mass extermination of people.

We've thrown babies alive into the burning furnace and a thousand other atrocities.

We are responsible that this world has nuclear bombs. And we are shocked that some soldiers / people use our old symbols to underline their own brutality.

I am sorry, we were the most brutal in history not the Americans. Americans are far far away from that.

I’m Austrian. Maybe we think that the Holocaust was worse because we grew up where it happened and our people were responsible for it. It was the systematic extermination of a race. It was an organised death machinery.

I mean, Mao's China & the USSR were pretty horribly brutal too & the numbers were bigger. Gulag Archipelago is one hell of a read (abridged is much easier to follow).

It’s not a competition.

Agree
