I actually don’t want technology in my car.
Discussion
Right. I'm stick with my plugged in Bluetooth receiver thing
smart move. i want a brand new car that has zero technology forced in it.
why can’t we be free of it even when we drive.
Gonna make this 09 Altima last as long as I can.
Between inflation and the cost of money when it comes to auto loans,
Americans are driving older and older vehicles, the average age of a vehicle on he road is like 13 years now

I agree, the more tech a car has the more that can go wrong, we just need it to transport us, I wish we could go back to the manual hand roll up windows
Same
Yeah I think my next car will be an old diesel land rover
The ugly one that be on safari; I love it…
🤦🏽♂️ mo money mo problems.
New cars are absolute privacy nightmares; from the APLR (automated license plate readers) to microphones throughout the interior (in some cases interior-facing cameras), Bluetooth broadcasting sensors, wifi, cellular connections with obligatory GPS location, driver usage information (ie hard breaking, speeding, etc), and so on, recording of interior conversations, retention of this personal data (regardless of your consent), insurance companies raising your rates based upon data you truly cannot opt out of, it's wildly depressing. There are new articles seeming almost every day.
I don't think you can even disable the cellular/wifi/Bluetooth or it will brick the car due to necessary firmware updates etc.
There was a "lovely" article about boarder surveillance in Texas leveraging APLR/Bluetooth/WiFi tracking of cars from the other day.

I guess cypherpunks will suddenly be hardcore sleeper build/classic car builders or be on mass transit.
Yeah baby already on it! Newest vehicle is a 99
Oh my dear Roya, you apparently haven't driven a Tesla
i have, and it made me hate them even more
Ok. Next time I'm in St Louis I will let you drive my Tesla. Would love to get your instant feedback on what's annoying to ya.
i like a car i can actually work on myself without it being bricked afterwards.
i’ve driven teslas many times, the unnecessary technology is useless and will be obsolete in a decade, why would i want elon musk to have my driving data?
You mean you don't want government mandated telematics systems that allows people like me (people with dealer level access) access to your entire location history, instantaneous location, known devices in your car, when your are hot or cold, if you lock your car when you leave it, who you were with and how often you visit them? Some people can even access your in vehicle cameras (which are also US government mandated after 2023 I believe), that's not something I had access to yet.
Who wouldn't want that? Oh and if you try to disable or remove the module from the network your vehicle no longer functions. BTW you opted into this when you purchased your new car, there is no opt out. The only opt out is not owning the vehicle.
Yeah it's really depressing and you're 100% right.
Isn't a wheel technology?
