Congrats to your dad. Given the fad-driven, contradictory, ever-shifting and historically corrupt state of nutrition “science”, one’s most rational option seems like trying different approaches to see what works for oneself.

Another example is the mainstream, NYT-type dismissal of supplements as “lacking evidence.” OK, except I’ve had dramatically good results for my lifelong borderline triglycerides levels by consuming a turmeric supplement daily. And when I started taking a One-A-Day multivitamin 30 years ago, two warts on my hands went away forever. So I’ve learned to experiment, within reason.
